FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you sell jewelry or provide piercing services?
No, we are strictly a tattoo studio.
I want a tattoo, how much does it cost?
It depends! There is a lot of information we need in order to decide a price.
Location on the body you want the tattoo (example: upper outer right arm, left side rib, etc.)
Size of the tattoo (in inches, please! small/medium/large is too vague. Get your measuring tape out!)
Do you want color in your tattoo, or just black & grey?
What kind of budget are you working with? Even if we aren't within your budget, we can break down the costs and what we CAN do at your budget.*
Reference pictures that show us what look you're going for!
We ask for all of this information (and some contact info) on our booking pages. Click here to book with Any Available Artist, and select "price quote" from the drop down menu in the form.
Note: The shop minimum is $100. We do have sales and promotions that lower this price for select flash, so check out the Events page and mark your calendar!
*We are happy to break up a tattoo into multiple sessions/visits to make it more financially accessible for you.
What should I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Don't design by committee - pick a design and style that YOU love, not just what is acceptable to friends or family.
Finalize ALL design choices BEFORE your scheduled appointment time.
Avoid alcohol and drugs 24 hours before your appointment to prevent excess bleeding and ink retention issues.
We reserve the right to refuse service to individuals we believe are intoxicated or high.
Make sure to get a good night's rest before your appointment.
Have a complete, balanced meal before your appointment.
Drink plenty of water.
Avoid tanning and sunburn.
For safety reasons, we will not tattoo sunburned clients. An appointment reschedule would be necessary.
Please DO NOT pre-shave the tattoo area.
Pre-shaving may cause irritation/razor bumps which will prevent us from safely tattooing you. We will shave and sanitize the area prior to tattooing.
DO NOT pre-apply numbing cream unless instructed to do so by your artist.
Numbing creams change the texture of the skin and how it absorbs ink. Your artist may refuse to tattoo you and reschedule you if you have applied numbing agent without notifying them. Please let your artist know ahead of time if you want to use a numbing cream so they can assess your specific project and advise you on proper use.
Can you cover up this tattoo?
It depends! All cover-ups are required to schedule an in-person consultation so we can determine the condition of the skin and the tattoo. Consultations are free of charge and take around 15 minutes. You can request a consultation via booking on the Artists page or just give us a call.
How do I heal my tattoo?
For the traditional healing process (no Saniderm/Tegaderm,) click here.
For the Saniderm/Tegaderm healing process, click here.
How old do I have to be to get tattooed?
According to the laws of the state of North Carolina, all persons MUST be 18 years old to get a tattoo. We will ask you for ID at the time of your appointment to confirm age. No ID = No tattoo, no exceptions.
Valid Forms of ID
Passport
Driver's License
State-issued ID card
We do NOT accept student/university IDs.
How do I keep my tattoo from fading?
You can’t entirely prevent ink from fading or spreading over time, but you can significantly slow down the process. It is important to follow ALL aftercare instructions given to you by your artist. After healing, the biggest offender for causing rapid tattoo aging is sun exposure! Always protect your tattoo from the sun by either covering it with clothing or applying (and regularly reapplying) sunscreen while in the sun.
How does the tattoo booking process work?
Glad you asked!
Each artist has their own booking form, linked on their specific page in the Artists section. There's also a general booking form for those who are not requesting a specific artist. All these forms will ask you for your contact details such as email, name and number so we know how to reach you. We do not use this information for anything other than scheduling your appointment and contacting you about said appointment.
(Note: Forms for particular events/sales may ask if you want to be contacted for future events. Please, feel free to say no! We will not send any marketing materials without consent.)
The form will also ask you details about what type of service you are requesting - cover-up, consultation, custom design, etc. Please provide as many accurate details as possible. You will receive a confirmation email once you've submitted the form - reply to it to confirm all of the info is correct, or make any corrections you need to. Double check that your email and number have been entered correctly! This is a common error on the forms that makes it more difficult to contact you for scheduling.
Here's a few tips for internet safety:
We do not take appointments, deposits or payments over any social media. We are happy to answer questions about tattoos and services, but anything regarding booking or financials is sent straight to the website. There are too many scammers out there, it's not safe! If you have received a message from someone claiming to be from our shop who is asking for money on Instagram/Facebook/etc., don't give them any!
We ONLY take deposits through Square. These deposits are sent via email. We do not use CashApp, Venmo, Paypal or any other financial service.
We do not ask for the full price of any tattoo up front, only a deposit. This deposit will never exceed $105.
In the event any of our payment information changes, we will make a public announcement on Instagram and the website, and all forms will be updated with the new details.
My partner and I want to get each others names tattooed, can you do that?
Our artists are happy to help you celebrate and commemorate your loving relationships - however, due to the sheer volume of these types of tattoos that have come back to us for a cover-up due to what we call "the jinx," consider this a warning ahead of time that if you break up, it is not our fault...but we are here for your cover-up needs!
